Wedding Reception Bar: Beer & Wine Only vs Full Bar

Why is serving beer and wine only not less expensive than offering a full open bar?

At Hermann Hill, we normally offer wedding guests four draft beers:  Bud Light, Miller Lite, Shocktop, and Michelob Amber Bach.   The costs per 12 oz serving of beer (in a 14 oz cup) is about the same as our frozen beverages (Rum Runners, Margaritas, Daiquiris, Peach Bolinis, Pina Colada) and for drinks made with spirits (Gin, Vodka, Bourbon, Scotch, Rum, Amaretto) and mixers like Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Tonic, Sour Mix, and Bloody Mary Mix.

The highest cost per serving is a glass of wine.

Eliminating spirits or frozen beverages actually increases our bar expenses and obviously reduces your guest's satisfaction with your bar options.   Frozen beverages and the coffee bar also reduce overall alcohol consumption while simultaneously providing your guests with a touch of elegance not found at many wedding venues.

We hope this information and additional details on our web site help in planning your wedding reception bar offerings to your special guests.
