It may sound like a harsh thing to say, but having your reception end at 10 p.m. means that you care more about your guests than yourselves. The reason being that more than half of your guests will drive back home following your reception, and ending the reception at 10 p.m. allows them to stay until the end, not miss anything, and still get home by midnight. The other half of your guests will be staying in various B & B's around Hermann and will really be looking forward to spending some quality time winding down from your reception and perhaps relaxing on a "vacation" for the first time in years. Extending the reception time past ten assuming that most of your guests really want more than four hours of a reception is not realistic. Those wanting to move the party to a local bar also appreciate the 10 p.m. ending time, because it allows them to continue partying in a more relaxed atmosphere that fits their mood at the end of a day filled with wedding oriented events. There should always be a point when you consider the happiness of your guests over your own needs. The memories of a family or friend complimenting you on a perfect day months after your reception should be one of your goals.
